i wasn't that melodramatic when we had our high school graduation. in fact, i was so sick of it i can't wait to graduate. i can remember that after the graduation we hugged each other, took pictures with our friends and said goodbye to one another. they also cried - but not me. how can i cry when i'm so happy that this is all over? really. i can't stand my excitement when they confirmed that we are already graduates. but i was able to hide it. of course i don't want to appear insensitive. you know, jumping up and down when all my batchmates are crying for the reason that we're not going to see each other anymore blah, blah, blah...
and i can't wait for the summer vacation. i need a break from school. especially that next schoolyear i'm going to be off as college. so i had it all planned. i would spend a week or two at home to feel the comfort of my house which i wasn't able to completely enjoy during the past months because of my school work, then a week after, teach kids in the annual DVBS my mom and i are handling and maybe after that spend a week out of town. if the out of town wouldn't work out, i planned to spend it on the mall instead.
i was so excited. think of it. i would spend the summer i never had for the past few years because of my busy schedule and after the summer's over, i would spend my college in the university i've always dreamed to study.
when suddenly i received this letter from the university saying that i passed the entrance exam but got a "relatively low score in math." and as a result, i have to attend a summer bridge program in math for one whole month!
boy, was my summer plans ruined.
i really dreaded it at first because hello? this is summer, i'm supposed to have a vacation! but as days passed by i started to enjoy my summer bridge. the professor was great and i met new friends. and my knowledge gap in math started to fill in. (yey! i'm not dumb in math anymore!) but still, it doesn't mean i like it now. i may not have mentioned it but i really really hate math. promise. anyway, besides the math summer bridge we're having, we also have this psychosocial session which is like an ice breaker of the day. we do this really cool activities and from there we got to know a lot about our classmates who eventually became our friends. but the psychosocial only takes two weeks. it ended last friday.
so i guess my summer wasn't totally ruined. in fact, i felt lucky - ok, blessed - that i became part of the SBP (summer bridge program). it wasn't just the social life that's really yhe highlight of it but the fact that i can impart the gospel to them. you know, like evangilizing. i've been praying for this and God finally opened doors on how i can share His Word to my new friends. i think this is the reason why God allowed me to pass the entrance exam. He wants me not just to have a good high quality eduation but to impart His love and Word to the other students that i'm going to meet that there's still hope in Christ. as you are aware of, college life is like a jungle. it's like a hole you'll pass through before you arrive to the real world. it's important for students to know about Christ so that they may not stray from the perfect future God has prepared for them. this is the reason why i feel so blessed that i learned and received Christ as my personal Lord and Savior at a young age because i know that there is someone who loves me the way i am and that He will never leave me nor forsake me. He used my weakness in math as His strength for me to reach out to the people i'm going to meet in my SBP. and i feel so happy knowing that i have a reason for being there and having a responsibility to take. my only prayer for now is not to fail God by falling into temptation and to be a living (good) testimony as witness of God.
the worse vacation i speculated is turning out to be the highlight of my summer.
